Admissions & Availability

We understand that choosing a care home for a loved one is one of the most significant decisions a family faces. Our admissions process is designed to be clear, unhurried, and supportive — so you can feel confident in your choice.

Now Accepting Residents

Hale Kiapu currently has available beds and is welcoming new residents. We offer flexible living options — including placements at the lower end of rental rates — making quality care more accessible for more families.

  • Affordable options available
  • Multiple room types — private and shared
  • Cottage-style and main-building living to match different preferences and budgets

Availability may be limited. Contact us to confirm current openings and discuss options that fit your family’s needs and budget.

Room Options

Hale Kiapu offers a range of accommodations to meet different needs. All rooms are furnished and include full access to community amenities, meals, housekeeping, and care services.

  • Private rooms — for those who value personal space
  • Shared rooms — a more affordable option with the same quality of care
  • Cottage-style living — smaller groups, more privacy, less institutional feel
  • Main building — central dining and administrative services on-site

This flexibility allows families to choose based on care needs, lifestyle, and budget. Speak with our team and we’ll help you find the right fit.

What Is Included

The monthly rate covers:

  • Licensed residential care (Adult Residential Care Home – Level 2)

Payment Options

We work with families across a range of financial situations. Accepted payment methods include:

  • Private pay — Direct payment by resident or family
  • Long-Term Care Insurance — We can work directly with most LTC insurers; contact us with your policy details
  • Veterans Aid & Attendance — Eligible veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for this VA benefit to offset care costs

We recommend consulting with an elder law attorney or benefits specialist to understand the full range of options available to your family.

The Admissions Process

1. Initial Inquiry Call us at (808) 533-3157 or email info@hkkcc.com to discuss your situation and check availability. We’re happy to answer questions at any stage.

2. Tour the Facility We strongly encourage an in-person visit. You’ll meet staff, see the rooms and common areas, and get a feel for the daily rhythm of life here. Tours can be arranged Monday–Friday, 9 AM–6 PM; Saturday–Sunday, 10 AM–4 PM.

3. Care Assessment A member of our care team will meet with the prospective resident and family to assess care needs, health history, and personal preferences. This determines the appropriate care level and final rate.

4. Admission Agreement We’ll review all terms, care plan details, and financial arrangements together. We encourage families to ask questions and take the time they need before signing.

5. Move-In Our staff assists with the transition to make move-in day as comfortable as possible — for the resident and for the family.
